Stop Managing Time — Start Controlling It: How Entrepreneurs Take Back Their Day

Stop Managing Time. Start Controlling It.

Everybody’s talking about time management.

“Manage your time better.”
“Prioritize your tasks.”
“Balance your schedule.”

Let me be straight with you: I don’t want to manage my time. And neither should you.

Because if you’re just “managing” time, you’ve already lost. You’ve made time the boss — and you’re its obedient little worker. You’re reacting. You’re chasing. You’re constantly playing catch-up.

I don’t want to be a slave to time.
I want time to be my slave.

And that’s a massive mindset shift that separates average performers from elite producers.

Time Blocking: Turning Your Calendar Into a Command Center

The first way to start controlling your time is deceptively simple: time blocking.

If you don’t have a calendar that you’re actively using — like, hourly, daily, religiously — start there. Personally, I love Google Calendar. It’s fast, it’s mobile, it syncs across devices, and it gives me notifications so nothing slips through the cracks. You can schedule appointments, events, tasks, and reminders, all in one place.

Now, here’s where most people get this wrong. They’ll block out a few things — a meeting here, a gym session there — and then leave big chunks of white space on their calendar. They’ll say things like,

“I like to leave a little buffer, just in case something comes up.”

No.

White space is the devil.
Grant Cardone says it best — and he’s right.

If you leave open time, that time will get eaten. You’ll scroll. You’ll wander. You’ll “take a little longer” on other tasks. And then when something does come up, you’ll still have to move things around anyway.

The solution? Fill every inch of white space. Pack your calendar. If something unexpected happens, adjust on the fly. But don’t build your schedule on “maybe.”

If you’re a business owner, those blocks better be filled with client-facing, revenue-producing, pipeline-building activities. Don’t let your most valuable asset — time — sit idle.

Leverage: The Secret Weapon of Time Control

Here’s the truth: you can’t actually “get” more hours in a day… but you can multiply your output during those hours.

How? Leverage.

If you’re running a business, that means people and technology.

  • People: Hire employees or virtual assistants. You can get a highly capable VA for around $6 an hour. While you’re working your day job, they can be making calls, booking appointments, sending follow-ups — keeping the business moving. That’s how I do it. My business doesn’t stop just because I’m at my W-2.

  • Technology: CRMs, funnels, evergreen webinars, automated email and text campaigns, AI bots — this is the modern goldmine.

    • A funnel runs ads while you sleep.

    • Your CRM books appointments and sends reminders while you’re offline.

    • Evergreen webinars bring in leads without you showing up live.

    • AI tools follow up with prospects 24/7.

You can literally sell in your sleep.

The goal is to create a machine that’s working whether or not you are. Someone — or something — should be producing for your business every single hour of the day.

The Excuse Trap: “I Can’t Afford Help”

I hear this all the time:

“I don’t have the money to hire someone right now.”

Well… then make more money.

And if you say,

“I can’t make more money because I don’t have time to make calls,”
guess what? That’s the chicken or the egg. Something’s gotta give.

Maybe you temporarily sacrifice personal time to generate revenue. Maybe you put some expenses on a credit card to get a VA started. Maybe you restructure your priorities. But you’ve got to break that cycle.

The people who scale fast aren’t waiting for perfect conditions — they’re creating them. They’re leveraging debt, creativity, and resources to multiply their time. And once the revenue starts flowing, they reinvest to scale even more.

24 Hours. Two Outcomes.

At the end of the day, every single one of us has the same 24 hours. That’s the great equalizer.

Some people use those 24 hours as an excuse:

“I don’t have time.”

Others use those same 24 hours to go from broke to billionaire.

The difference?
One group is managing time — at best.
The other group is controlling it.

One group is enslaved by time.
The other has made time their bitch.

So the question is: Which one do you want to be?

Key Takeaways:

  • Stop “managing” time. Start controlling it.

  • Fill your calendar. Eliminate white space.

  • Leverage people, technology, and automation.

  • Break the “I don’t have time” excuse cycle.

  • Treat time like the powerful tool it is — not the master you answer to.

That’s it for today. As always, it’s your life, your canyon, your legacy. You are in control. Let’s flow!
